U.S. miner North American Tungsten (NTC) announced it is resuming activities at its Cantung tungsten mine in the Northwest Territories, Canada, which has been on care and maintenance since October 2009 due to big inventories and declining tungsten prices. The company's board bets on the recovery of the market, and approved a restart plan which will upgrade operations as well.

Some US$ 20 million will be spent reopening the project, which is the only tungsten mine in North America, and full production will be reached two months after the restart in October.
