Earthquake kills 7 in Afghanistan
An earthquake struck in mountains north of Afghanistan early this Monday, killing at least seven people and injuring 30, officials said. The 5.3-quake hit around 1:00 am in Samangan orovince, a region that already had few communications before the incident so reports of damages may take time to reach authorities. The quake was felt in the country's capital, Kabul, aas well as in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
Civil defense units were sent to the mountains region to check on the damage and casualties.
