Crusader Resources to expand activities in Brazil
The infamous tax review promoted by the Australian goverment on the mining sector may benefit Brazil quicker than expected: junior miner Crusader Resources is considering to expand its activities in the South American country, ramping up output at the Posse iron ore project in Minas Gerais state, which will be commissioned in a few weeks, and will also opt to join the Borborema gold project in Rio Grande do Norte by spending US$ 2 million.
Posse has a resource base of 36 million tonnes and will begin producing 300,000 tonnes this year, rising to 1 million tonnes a year from 2011, while Borborema will have a resource estimate delivered by the next days and could host 500,000 ounces of gold, according to unofficial sources.
