Airplane crash kills Ken Talbot, execs at Sundance Resources
An airplane crash killed on Monday 11 people including mining entrepeneur Ken Talbot and executives at Australia's Sundance Resources in Cameroun. The aircraft had taken off from Yaounde, Cameroon, on Saturday bound for Yangadou in Congo. Its wreckage was located in remote jungle on Monday and there were no survivors. The group was visiting iron ore projects in the West African countries.
"It was roughly a one hour flight, and the last communication from them was 30 minutes into the flight," said Brian Thornton, a spokesman for Talbot Group, which is a major Sundance shareholder, adding no issues were reported at that moment.
Sundance missing executives were Chairman Geoff Wedlock; Managing Director Don Lewis; company secretary John Carr-Gregg; and nonexecutive directors Ken Talbot, John Jones and Craig Oliver.
