Two workers died this Wednesday night at Vale's Stobie mine in Sudbury, the company said in this early Thursday. The employees were working at the 3 000-ft level. The incident is being investigated by the Sudbury Police, the Ministry of Labour and representatives of both the company and the United Steelworkers Union.

Vale, the second-biggest mining group in the world and the largest iron-ore producer, bought Canadian nickel-miner Inco in 2006.
